Figuring Video Bandwidth For Streaming

Use our charts to figure bandwidth for 56k, 128k, and 220k when giving a webcasting stream. There are 3 charts which measure the data transfer for webcasting at 56k (dialup), 128k (ISDN) and 220k (broadband).


Use A Chart To Figure Bandwidth

Example: You're giving a 10 minute streaming video for 10 people with 56K. Go to the 56k Chart and cross reference 10 minutes with 10 people for your answer.
Answer: Using the 56k Chart, it will take about 42 MB of bandwidth for your webcast.


Total Bandwidth From All Charts Used

Example: You're giving a 10 minute webcast for 10 people with 56k and 220k downloads. Use charts 56k and 220k to cross reference 10 minutes with 10 people. Total the answers from both charts for the total bandwith used for your webcast.
Answer:
  1.      42 MB from Chart 56k (10 minutes for 10 people = 42 MB)
  2. + 165 MB from Chart 220k (10 minutes for 10 people = 165 MB)
  3. = 207 MB the total bandwidth used (42 MB + 165 MB = 207 MB)
